Charles River Associates (CRA) has been commissioned by the British In Vitro Diagnostics Association (BIVDA) to develop a new narrative on the UK genomics landscape. The focus is firstly to develop a value framework articulating the benefits of advanced in vitro diagnostics (for patients, healthcare systems, payers, and wider society) and current access challenges in the UK, and secondly to explore how new partnership models can facilitate improved patient access to genomic testing.
To understand the access environment, CRA are now undertaking interviews with BIVDA’s member companies to discuss the challenges facing their technologies and the solutions needed to create a more optimal access environment in the future. The aim is to gather views across BIVDA’s membership, including companies who have been involved in the development of novel partnership models between industry and the NHS or Genomics England in order to discuss the barriers faced and how these were overcome and explore potential best practices.
A draft discussion guide for the planned interviews has been included.
Examples of such partnerships include but are not limited to those listed below:
|•||Illumina and Genomic England’s collaboration to deliver genome sequencing reports|
|•||Genedrive and Manchester University NHS Trust’s partnership to deliver rapid MT-RNR1 screening|
|•||Guardant and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust’s partnership to establish in-house liquid biopsy testing|
|•||GRAIL and NHS England’s pilot collaboration to provide ctDNA sequencing for cancer detection|
|•||Congenic and Genomic England’s partnership to support the NHS Genomic Medicine Service|
|•||Genomics PLC and NHS England’s pilot study to integrate genomic analysis into heart disease prediction|
If you are interested in participating in an interview, please contact Hannah Armstrong (email@example.com) at CRA to confirm your interest. CRA will then be in touch with more details and to arrange an appropriate time for the discussion.
We aim to conduct these interviews between now and mid-November.
