The restriction on the use of Diisocyantes has come into effect in the EU from 24 August. Diisocyanates are respiratory and skin sensitizers. They are used in the production of polyurethane products including foams, adhesives, sealants and coatings.
Manufacturers cannot use Diisocyanates on their own or as a constituent in other substances or in mixtures for industrial and professional uses in concentrations equal or above 0.1 % by weight, unless they have completed a training on the safe use of the substance.
Diisocyanates are respiratory and skin sensitizers. Restricting their use is estimated to prevent over 3 000 new cases of occupational asthma per year in the EU.
More information on this restriction can be found here.
