Procurement Working Party – 9 June 2022

By June 10, 2022No Comments

We were pleased to welcome some of our key stakeholders from the NHS to update the procurement working party members on key initiatives that are coming up.

NHS Supply chain are preparing to issue the tender renewal for the Pathology framework including managed services, and mechanisms for [any] future public health emergency. They are actively engaging with companies for feedback and there will be plenty of opportunity to redline specifications, and contract structure. Many of the learnings which the industry experienced over the past 4 years since the award of the last contract have been understood and considered. We look forward to having them back at one of our other meetings to update us on progress.

There was some discussion around Social Value and value added elements related to Net Zero and Sustainability as they consider how to deliver the NHS’s commitment to this by 2045.

NHS Digital also had a session explaining the structure of the merged teams for Transformation. They discussed the importance of the standards and the requirements that will ensure access to data for those who legitimately require access to it.

There are 2 consultations which members are encouraged to respond to as this will influence the interoperability policy for England, but they are also working closely with the devolved nations.

There was an update on the UKCA regulations and discussions with MHRA particularly relating to the role of primary contractors as distributors in managed services. A paper has been sent to MHRA for consideration with recommendations for resolution. The general feedback was that the paper was good, and we await feedback from MHRA. Please contact Helen f you want to see the paper.

Minutes and slides from the meeting will be available for members shortly.

It was great to have members from other working parties attend for Digital, Environmental and Regulatory as the synergies and activity related to this agenda aligned well.

Please Register for our Working Party Seminar in Birmingham on the 12th October for the next meeting. Details can be found HERE
