UCL Event: Inclusivity in Women’s HealthTech

By March 13, 2024No Comments

On Wednesday, as part of a week-long schedule of International Women’s Day events, Lucy Lehane, BIVDA’s Innovation Programme Lead participated in “Inclusivity in Women’s Health Tech”.

Held at the Royal College of Physicians beside London’s Regents Park – the event was hosted by UCL’s Innovation and Enterprise, EGA Institute for Women’s Health and the Division of Medicine in collaboration with Barclays Eagle Labs.

The event brought together researchers, Industry experts, and companies working in Women’s Health Tech and Digital Health to explore topics around inclusivity in women’s health. It was a fantastic day of interactive discussions, presentations and the latest research in women’s health tech and really highlighted the importance of evidence-based products rather than gimmicks with misleading claims.

There was a panel discussion on Digital Health debating whether it is empowering or exploiting women, and a talk that focussed on the latest innovations in women’s health for diagnosis, tracking and monitoring conditions.

With funding and support provided by UCL Innovation and Enterprise, a team at UCL have created the UK’s first menopause education programme working with women’s health charities and talking in detail with women who have experienced the menopause you can read more about the process here.
