At the end of this month, import declarations close on CHIEF when they are expected to be declared through CDS. However, HMRC have announced that traders will temporarily be able to continue using the CHIEF system after 1st October.
In order to access this benefit, traders must complete this online form. If this is not complied with, HMRC have the right to remove your access.
HMRC have advised a limited group of declarants are unable to fully migrate their imports so can continue to use CHIEF for imports without having to apply for continued use. HMRC will contact those declarants directly to let them know.
