Message to British businesses from the new Business and Trade Secretary

By July 9, 2024No Comments

The new Business and Trade Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, held a call with business leaders this week to outline his vision for British business under a Labour Government.

Mr Reynolds stressed that partnership with industry was at the centre of the Government’s plans and set out what the first 100 days of Sir Keir Starmer’s administration would mean for businesses. This includes:

  • Delivering a mission-driven industrial strategy
  • Making work pay
  • Supporting small businesses
  • Reset trade relations and champion British exports

Mr Reynolds would also like feedback from businesses, no matter the size, on the following statements:

  • How we should use our Industrial Strategy to kickstart Britain’s economy;
  • How you have supported your teams while also growing your business so we can take forward the best examples to inform our work;
  • What’s stopping you growing if you’re a small business owner; and
  • How we should use our trade strategy to drive up exports and sell more British-designed, British-made products and services to markets around the world?
