BIVDA has had an AMR working party since about 2016, but this has largely been focussed on having speakers to inform the group and ensuring the messaging about the role of IVDs is there for all the DHSC and NHS policy work. During the pandemic we also initiated a taskforce to help with anything COVID related and to ensure information could get to the right people in the membership quickly.
As we come out of the pandemic, we believe we would be better to have a working group focussed on all infectious disease issues with themes within it for topics such as AMR, sepsis, COVID etc. These could become separate sub-groups to work on any activity or policy issue as and when required. We are holding a meeting to kick this off and look at the membership needs on 12th May (register through Eventbrite as usual). This revised later date is because of the proximity of the earlier date to ECCMID.
