HR Working Party – Thursday 18 January 2024

By January 31, 2024No Comments

The HR function has evolved within organisations with the pandemic offering HR departments different challenges to overcome in addition to embedding new practices within the structure of the organisation.

Organisations need to build HR capabilities around, how could people contribute, add value, to the bottom line to an organisation. Managers who treat people fairly and provide effective feedback and support, while also developing their staff and helping employees to work together, are likely to have happier, healthier, and higher performing teams. It is important to recognise that the HR function is as important as any other function within an organisation, you cannot have an organisation without its people.

BIVDA’s inaugural HR Working Party meeting was held at the BIVDA offices on Thursday 18 January 2024 with a number of member companies in attendance.

The initial response from to the invitation inviting members to participate in this newly created working party was well received with several members contacting Nigel Job, Chair of the HR Working Party in advance of the meeting wanting to discuss and put forward as agenda topics their current HR concerns.

The discussion in the room was topical with the below topics being raised and examined by the group.

  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Recruitment and Retention
  • Workforce planning
  • Learning and Development
  • Well-being
  • Gender bias

Minutes from the meeting can be found HERE.

The meeting ended with the nomination of two Vice-Chairs, Charlotte Forbes and Claire Davey both from Sysmex.
