Professor Michael Lewis, SBRI Healthcare and NIHR Invention for Innovation (i4i) Programme Director, has announced a second FAST pilot programme, which is to open for applications next week. It is to have double the funds of the previous iteration.
So far, 25 diverse projects have been awarded £1m of funding to address questions such as market research validations, rapid user-centred design and prototyping, and health economic evaluations.
Professor Lewis has reflected on the success and impact of the first FAST pilot in an article here, including examples of successful applicants.
Applications for FAST pilot 2 are to open next week and will close on 15 February 2023. Funding decisions have a quick turnaround with notification of success or failure to follow 6-8 weeks after an application is submitted.
