FINAL CALL!
Dr Jane Freeman, Associate Professor in Clinical Microbiology, Leeds Institute for Medical Research, University of Leeds Clinical Scientist, Leeds Teaching Hospitals & National Clinical Lead for AMR Diagnostics and Rob Annan, Programme & Science Policy Lead for Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) Diagnostics for NHS England, would love for BIVDA members who have not already indicated their interest in this event to put themselves forward following that meeting to join the list of industry partners on the day.
Details of the event are outlined below:
NHS England’s and NIHR Leeds BRC’s flagship in-person event, Moving Forward in Infection Diagnostics: defining and communicating clinical need is taking place on Tuesday the 3rd October 2023 from 9.30am-4.30pm at the Leeds Nexus.
BIVDA are pleased to be sponsoring this event which will bring together a broad range of expertise from across patient groups, community, primary and secondary care in infection diagnostics to define the clinical need and to inform discussions with Industry.
NHS England’s AMR Diagnostics team at the Office of the Chief Scientific Officer, in collaboration with the NIHR Innovation Observatory and NICE have carried out a comprehensive horizon scan to examine potential infection diagnostic innovations across the development spectrum from proof of concept through to CE-marked tests. Alongside this work, the team has also mapped the clinical pathway for urinary tract infections, sepsis and lower respiratory tract infections to determine the challenging points where innovations were most required in the NHS. Some of you will have been involved with these mapping exercises through the Infectious Disease Working Party over the past months.
Together, these pieces of work demonstrate a need to clearly define clinical need to inform diagnostic development and for strengthening the dialogue between the NHS and industry partners.
To ensure the success of this event, NHS England are seeking industry partners who are focused on these objectives. There are only a few spaces available and only one representative per company could attend.
BIVDA will be providing NHS England the details of members of the Infectious Disease Working Party so that they can invite companies directly. Please inform BIVDA if you do not wish to be contacted.
Kindly indicate your interest to BIVDA as early as possible before 19 September, so that NHS England can send out invitations to register for the event.
