DHSC Modern Slavery Review

By January 10, 2024No Comments

DHSC have published their review into modern slavery and human trafficking within the NHS supply chain.

The comprehensive review, covering nearly 1400 suppliers and 600,000 products, concluded that there are areas of high risk within the supply chain – predominately for PPE, surgical instruments, and cotton-based products.

In a series of recommendations, DHSC suggest that due diligence forms part of the procurement process and that a standardised risk assessment is incorporated into into Atamis.

While IVDs are not specifically mentioned in the review, there is a clear need for NHS suppliers to be aware of this issue and its impact on procurement.  BIVDA will continue to monitor this area and are well-placed to support members.
