These briefings are highly confidential, however there is limited information that can be shared with members by way of update.
The update from this meeting is that negotiations are on-going and the gaps in agreement are narrowing as they progress.
There is no announcement at the upcoming G20 expected. The discussions are being undertaken in a hybrid manner, and the UK delegation is due to travel for in-person talks next week.
As to be expected, IP, the pharma annex, labour, data, general digital and services economy, public procurement and domestic advantage and legal services are the main points of discussion.
BIVDA asked what the status of Medical Device regulation and legislation for import/ export negotiations was and the delegation were unable to update on the call but will provide a reply directly from the negotiating team. This will be shared in brief once a response is received.
Your input is valuable, so please share any concerns or issues you may have with regard to the FTA with India and these will be provided to the negotiating team at DBT.
