BIVDA attends the MedTech Forum 2022 event in Barcelona

By May 6, 2022No Comments

BIVDA attended the MedTech Forum 2022 event in Barcelona this week to link in with European IVD and medtech counterparts and stakeholders.

The event comprised varying discussions sessions featuring CEO leaders, policy experts, medtech & diagnostics innovators and regulatory affairs specialists. There were plenty of networking opportunities to discuss topics relevant to the pace of IVDR implementation, innovation in digital health, sustainable transformations towards net zero, UDI, procurement and fostering circularity.

In attendance from the BIVDA team were Doris-Ann, Helen, Ashleigh and Michael. It was good to catch-up with some of our BIVDA member companies, the MedTech Europe team, European trade associations, diagnostics start-ups and other attendees of relevance to our strategic engagement plans and horizon scanning.

The event was extremely useful in understanding the subjects, trends and challenges facing IVD companies operating and growing in the European market. We found many areas of convergence with the UK’s forward outlook and it reinforces the strategy BIVDA’s European Affairs team has developed to maintain communication pathways and co-operation with EU organisations and regulatory actors. We will be feeding our learnings and insights into our Working Party activities and continuing to campaign for workable alignment in terms of EU-UK regulatory frameworks for seamless IVD supply networks, market access and research activities (e.g. the UK’s formal association to the Horizon Europe programme).

BIVDA will be attending further conferences and regulatory affairs-specific events throughout the remainder of 2022 to amplify the UK IVD industry’s voice, scan for issues of relevance to our companies and advocate accelerated adoption and increased support for IVD technologies. We will update our membership through our social media channels, and this Newsletter as these events take place.

If you have any questions on the European Affairs programme at BIVDA, or would like to suggest topics for the workplan agenda please contact Michael.
