BIVDA attend the HCSA conference

By December 1, 2023No Comments

Procurement and the supply chain within the health care sector are of key importance to manufacturers, suppliers, and users.  Value for money, sustainability, and the challenge of selling into the NHS are common themes mentioned by members to BIVDA.

BIVDA attended the Healthcare Supply Association’s 2023 winter conference to represent members and enjoy access to senior industry, NHS, and government policymakers.

Of particular interest was Jacqui Rock, FCIPS‘s launch of the new NHS England Commercial Strategic Framework. With an objective specifically to reduce barriers to SMEs trading into the NHS, this reflects feedback from BIVDA members and is something BIVDA has been heavily advocating for. This outcome, along with a single national e-commerce platform and a single supplier registration portal, is due to be delivered in phase one of the framework.

BIVDA’s Head of Policy, Programmes, and Compliance, Paul Fisher, says “We welcome this high level plan and focus on SMEs, but recognise successful delivery still requires significant effort. BIVDA will continue to work with NHSE and others to ensure that our members’ innovative and vital IVDs can be supplied into the NHS in a timely, equitable, and commercially attractive process.”

The plan can be found here.  We welcome member views, and as always will take these forward in our regular contact with the NHS.
