BIVDA is committed to supporting ‘Show Racism The Red Card’ but this is more than one day of raising awareness by wearing red today, 21 October. Racism is endemic in society, usually unconscious and we must change the way we think.
The BIVDA Board will be discussing how best to take this forward but in the meanwhile reiterate that BIVDA will not tolerate racist behaviour or language.
We also want to encourage more black people to choose the IVD sector as a career and to help support their progress and professional development and to play our part in ensuring our industry’s products are suitable for all races – skin prick testing is a poor example as it is out-dated and unpleasant, but never worked on black skin.
