Stephen Lawrence Day is a yearly celebration of Stephen’s life and legacy that began in 2019 and is observed on the anniversary of his death.
The Stephen Lawrence Foundation founded by his mother Baroness Doreen Lawrence ‘exists to inspire a more equitable, inclusive society and to foster opportunities for marginalised young people in the UK’ with support from the local community and businesses.
It aims to provide mentoring, coaching, work experience opportunities, and bursaries for education and training, the Foundation broadens young people’s view of what’s possible, and creates pathways into education and career opportunities which might not otherwise be open to them. The Foundation empowers young people with the knowledge, skills, and qualifications they need to pursue the career of their choice and supports them to progress along their chosen path.
BIVDA is committed to supporting inclusivity and diversity so come and join us for our webinar ‘The Recruitment, Retention and Development of People of Colour in UK Life Sciences’ on Wednesday 28 June 2023 10.30am – 12.00pm if you are looking to make a positive impact on the UK’s life sciences sector, join us and be a part of the conversation to help shape the future of the industry.
