UK landmark genomic partnership with Thailand to unite against health threats
- The UK is set to boost its genomics expertise to deliver better healthcare through a landmark memorandum of understanding signed with Thailand
- Thailand is a world-leader in life sciences and genomics and plans to share knowledge with the UK to help prevent, diagnose and treat major diseases that burden people in both countries
- New partnership will explore mutual priorities for improving patient outcomes
Proportion of women in England not screened for cervical cancer at 10-year high
- NHS England data shows that 4.6m or so women were still unscreened or behind with tests – the disease is diagnosed in 3,200 annually in UK
- More than a quarter who develop the disease will succumb to it and is the 14th most common cancer for women in the UK
- However, it is highly preventable through HPV vaccinations and appropriate screening

- The Interim Devices Working Group will provide independent, external expert input and advice on the safety, performance, benefits and risks of devices in use in the United Kingdom healthcare system, prior to the launch of the statutory committee under the Medicines and Medical Devices Act 2021
