NOTE:
The government has published two responses found below, covering the charges implemented under the Border Target Operating Model and proposals to revise UK POP (Persistent Organic Pollutants) Regulation.
Due to lack of members engagement, BIVDA did not submit a response. There are a number of substances identified that could impact GB manufacturers, since they are components of IVD products. These substances may be present as contaminants from production stages further up the supply chain, or maybe intentionally as flame retardants, UV stabilisers, or plasticisers found in plastics, and electronics.
The UK as a signatory to the UN POP’s Convention has an obligation to implement changes to the regulation, however the specific thresholds and exemptions implemented in the UK legislation are a national decision. EU POPs Regulations continue to apply to Northern Ireland.
