Take a deep dive into EU cardiovascular health data

An online tool which helps policymakers, researchers, and the public monitor cardiovascular health across the EU was launched today.  The new State of Cardiovascular Health in the European Union Dashboard was unveiled at a webinar hosted by the European Commission and the OECD which explored the report State of Cardiovascular Health in the European Union, which underpins the European Union’s Safe Hearts Plan.

The Safe Hearts Plan was presented by the European Commission on 16 December 2025 and is the first-ever EU plan for tackling cardiovascular disease. It addresses the key challenges across the EU related to cardiovascular diseases, focusing on the special needs of vulnerable population groups such as children and young people and women. It supports Member States and stakeholders on health promotion and prevention, early detection and screening, treatment and care (including rehabilitation) of cardiovascular diseases.

The Cardiovascular Health Dashboard was developed by the OECD for the European Commission to accompany the ‘State of Cardiovascular Health in the EU’ report. Both were funded under the EU4Health Programme.

The online dashboard analyses cardiovascular disease trends, including major risk factors, multimorbidity, healthcare quality, and care pathways in EU Member States, Iceland, and Norway. It brings together numerous data sources, including OECD Health Statistics, Eurostat, the World Health Organization, and the 2025 OECD Cardiovascular Policy and Data Survey.

It maps national policies, highlights key challenges, and identifies opportunities for future action. Interactive features allow users to explore time trends, country comparisons, and data maps.
