Dear members, please see below update regarding submission for EU RoHS Annex III exemption packs 4(a)-I and 4(f)-IV regarding lamps, specifically mercury containing lamps used because they emit light in the UV wavelengths. The joint submissions have been made under the Umbrella project and via Lighting Europe. These will also apply in Northern Ireland. Please note that members interested in keeping the equivalent Annex III exemptions in GB need to make an exemption renewal request. I can get contact details of the Lighting trade association who are Joint Trade Association members if members are interested in submitting supporting data to renew the exemption for PT 8 IVD products. We are writing to share with you the final PDF version of the RoHS Umbrella Project renewals for Annex III exemptions 4a-I and 4f-IV.
Earlier in the summer, MedTech Europe members contributed to and agreed to co-sign these two exemption requests. The adopted versions (no content changes, only logos of co-signing stakeholders) are available.
Please note that the exemption renewal requests have now been submitted to the European Commission, in time with the renewal deadline. In terms of next steps, the Umbrella Project will convene a call in the coming months, once they have news from the European Commission on a consultant who will be awarded the future tender for reviewing these exemptions.
