Dear members, the European Commission (DG SANTE/HaDEA) has organised a survey to gather information to inform future policy regarding medical device supply chains, and management of shortages, and to provide resilience in the supply chains of medical devices.
The general objective of the study, which started in June 2025 and will last six months, is to provide a comprehensive understanding of MD/IVD availability challenges in the EU and propose evidence-based solutions to enhance supply chain resilience and develop a concept of critical medical devices. Consultation activities (interviews, survey, workshop) are ongoing and planned in the context of this study (see attached endorsement letter).
We encourage you to participate and/or share the survey within your networks, as the outcomes may inform future EU policy actions in this area.

- Deadline (short!): 3 November 2025 (23:59 CET)
Please note that the outcome is likely to impact Northern Ireland. The survey also does not consider the UK as a major exporter of medical devices and IVDs to the EU.
