Guidance on what happens when Intensified Official Controls are triggered at the EU Border
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) has published new guidance aimed at businesses exporting animal products from Great Britain to the European Union. This guidance sets out the procedures and requirements for exporters if their consignments trigger Intensified Official Controls (IOCs) or Imposed Checks (ICs) at the EU border.

The guidance explains:

  • what IOCs and ICs are
  • the necessary actions exporters need to take if their establishment is placed under IOC or IC.
  • what happens to consignments that are rejected at EU Border Control Posts

Action

Exporters should familiarise themselves with this guidance to ensure they are prepared to take appropriate actions if their consignments trigger IOCs or ICs at the EU border. Understanding these procedures will prevent escalation of controls and ensure compliance with EU regulations.
