What US–UK agreement on pharmaceuticals and tariff measures means for diagnostics

By December 9, 2025No Comments

Last week, the UK and US Government’s signed a pharmaceuticals and tariff deal which secured a 0% tariff on all pharmaceutical exports to the US for at least three years. This marks a further step in the UK-US Economic Prosperity deal, signed in May.

Most importantly for UK IVD companies, the deal confirms ‘preferential terms’ for the UK’s MedTech exports too, meaning there will be no additional tariffs on MedTech (and diagnostics). The Government hopes that this will unlock further investments in the UK.

BIVDA remains closely attentive to the details of the deal, as well as any further clarifications and/or changes, and will ensure members are updated appropriately.
