Unsolicited/fake Environment Agency calls to get chemical inventories

By November 4, 2025November 5th, 2025No Comments

BIVDA has been made aware through members of the Joint Trade Association of fake calls being made to industrial sites likely to have chemicals stored onsite.

The calls claim to be from the Environment Agency (EA) and ask what chemicals are stored onsite and details of storage facilities.

In one instance, a company was contacted whilst they were undergoing an onsite Environment Agency audit, and the EA team were able to confirm that the EA would not call to gather this kind of information over the phone.

We have been advised that members should not to give details of chemicals, or chemicals storage over the phone, and to alert the Environment Agency and police if you receive such calls.
