NICE’s standard cost-effectiveness threshold used in their technology appraisals (TAs) set to increase.
DHSC has stated its intention to increase the threshold from £20,000 to £30,000, to £25,000 to £35,000, and is expected to be implemented from April 2026 (subject to parliamentary approval, DHSC processes and associated timelines).
DHSC has indicated that the threshold used for highly specialised technologies will remain unchanged.
NICE is drafting updated manuals which will be released as soon as the definitive instruction is received from DHSC.
