The much-awaited NHS Ten Year Plan is due to be released tomorrow. A flurry of briefings over the weekend have given clues on what to expect, with a focus on staff reform, revised funding models, and the use of digitalisation to speed up delivery.
Areas of particular interest to the IVD industry include “innovator passports” designed to speed up adoption of technology across the NHS. Specifically called out is the successful use of rapid influenza testing, in an encouraging sign of the use of diagnostics to shift care to the most appropriate location.
BIVDA are hosting a webinar, chaired by former Health Minister Maggie Throup, at 10:30 on Friday to discuss the implications of the plan for the IVD sector. You can register for the webinar here.
We will also be providing updates by our usual channels.
Separately, the launch of the Life Science Sector plan has been pushed back. As set out in last weeks newsletter, the plan is not expected to diverge from the areas set out in the industrial strategy, but while discussions continue on the voluntary scheme for branded medicines pricing, access, and growth (“VPAG”) the plan remains under wraps.
