DHSC have launched an engagement exercise to allow potential bidders for a blood self-sampling service to view and comment on the NHS requirements. This is intended to sight DHSC on existing services which can supply, distribute, receive, analyse, and send results from self-testing cholesterol and blood glucose kits. If suitable providers are identified, they may be given the opportunity to participate in the Beta phase and inform a potential decision to roll out at scale.
BIVDA are encouraged to see this option being considered by the NHS as an innovative solution to staff shortages and high demand and would encourage members with a suitable test to consider applying. The closing date is 19th January.
