BIVDA welcome Neil Plumridge as our new Regulatory Affairs Manager from 1st September.
Neil Plumridge has over 25 years experience in the IVD sector, both as an end user of IVDs, supporting Clinical Chemistry and POCT systems in the UK and Ireland, as well as working in and supporting IVD manufacturers in the UK, Germany and the US for global distribution. Neil was EKF Diagnostics Holdings Plc’s Global Regulatory Manager, collecting, sharing and implementing global IVD regulatory changes and best practice, before establishing himself as a Regulatory consultant at Insight IVD Ltd.
Neil has been an active member of various BIVDA working parties including the Regulatory Affairs WP, and a member of MedTech Europe working parties including those cover the implementation of the EU Green – Environmental and Sustainability goals. Neil is the current chair of BIVDA’s Environmental working party.
Head of Programmes, Policy and Compliance Paul Fisher said “I am delighted to welcome Neil on board as a permanent member of the team. Having worked with Neil as chair of BIVDA’s environmental working party, I know well both the expertise and passion he brings to the role.
“Neil will be taking over from Stuart Angell, who has done a brilliant job combining the role of Regulatory Manager with his position as leader of regulatory consultancy IVDeology. Stuart will remain as chair of our regulatory working party, meaning BIVDA continues to offer the very best regulatory support to members.”
Neil said “Having been a member and worked with BIVDA and its membership already as the Environmental Regulation Lead, I look forward to this new and challenging role. We are at a crucial point with implementation of the UK PMS legislation and updates to the UK MDR.
“I look forward to working with Prof. Mike Messenger, Stuart Angell, Andy Rutter and Dominique Huxham to represent the membership and your views and challenges in the IVD sectorial legislation, advocating regarding non sectorial legislation where this impacts the sector, and continuing our representation as members of MedTech Europe.”
As Neil will be joining BIVDA, he will vacate his position as Chair of the Environmental Working Party. If you are interested in this position, please email ben.kemp@bivda.org.uk.
