Leeds NIHR Biomedical Research Centre are hosting the next event in the Moving Forward Infection Diagnostics series: Financial models for AMR diagnostics on Tuesday 25th November, 2025 at 9:30am – 4:00pm at Nexus, Leeds.
Fundamental to a greater shift in use of diagnostics for AMR and infection, are robust funding models for their evaluation and use within the NHS.
Funding has been the strongest theme within the thematic analyses from all the previous Moving Forwards Infection Diagnostics meetings and workshops, as the biggest potential blocker but also the lever that could have the biggest impact on the system.
The objectives of this event are to:
- Review current funding frameworks and discuss alternatives
- Articulate best practice for funding the research and development cycle
- Explore the complex barriers within current funding models and how alternative models could leverage change
- Enable debate on the topic, producing further thematic outputs to input into a final series publication
The meeting will bring together patient voices, NHS clinicians, academics, scientists, industry, funding bodies, Health Innovation Networks, NHS purchasing and procurement.
