CPI is currently undertaking a UK Government Department of Science Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and Office for Life Sciences (OLS) sponsored project, called MARRS (MedTech Accelerator Rapid Regulatory Support), investigating investment challenges in the HealthTech sector. Input is requested from HealthTech SME on two elements:
1) MARRS Interview
The project will author a report which will flag barriers to investment in UK HealthTech and some proposed solutions. To inform the report, the project team is conducting 30–45-minute one-to-one interviews (via Microsoft Teams) with stakeholders across the HealthTech ecosystem.
HealthTech SME’s input on barriers to investment and proposed solutions would be incredibly valuable. The team hopes to come up with actionable initiatives for government (or local government) that could support more money to flow throughout the ecosystem. They would be extremely grateful if you could share some of your time and experience during a short interview.
The discussion will cover:
1. The global opportunity for HealthTech
2. Barriers to investment
3. Funding requirements and sources for HealthTech SMEs
4. Global best practices/internationalisation
If you are happy to support, please email Thea Tebble and she will introduce you to the project team who will get an interview slot booked in with you.
2) MARRS Roundtable
Alongside the virtual one-to-one interviews, CPI will be running a UK road trip of roundtables to convene regional SMEs and investors in HealthTech. We’ll be visiting Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Belfast, Cardiff and London throughout January and February.
You are invited to join one of the SME roundtables, in whichever city is most convenient to you. There will be an opportunity to network with other local HealthTech SMEs and investors over lunch too. You can RSVP via Luma here: https://lu.ma/calendar/cal-o4GlO23VB4UExxF
Please note – the Cardiff roundtables are TBC so will not appear on the Luma page currently.
As spaces are limited and to ensure as many different SME perspectives as possible are voiced, only one representative of each SME can attend.
This is all part of a wider project titled MARRS (MedTech Accelerator Rapid Regulatory Support) which seeks to support HealthTech SMEs with the challenges they face and includes a regulatory support fund.
Please respond to either invitation by 1 January 2025 and please inform BIVDA of your participation for our records.
