On Wednesday Doris-Ann attended the launch of the new Centre for Precision Health and Translational Medicine which has been set up by the University of Brighton under the leadership of Professor Rameen Shakur. Rameen brings his expertise from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with him to Brighton and has assembled a group of scientists to work with him.
The Vice Chancellor of the University and the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex along with the CEO of Brighton and Hove District Council were among the guest speakers which also included Prof Sir Munir Pirmohamed and Richard Hebdon (Innovate UK). The other invited guests were an eclectic mix and Doris-Ann had an interesting discussion with Alan Greenberg, a senior counsel with McKinsey and former head of Education at Apple – very interested in Diagnostics!
It was also attended by Camilla Fleetcroft, our vice Chair for the UKCA sub-group, Regulatory Affairs. Here is a link for anyone who would like to learn more about the activities of this Centre: Welcome to the Centre for Precision Health and Translational Medicine (brighton.ac.uk).
