BIVDA Chief Executive Helen Dent featured in a panel session at Curia’s recent ‘Advancing Healthcare Leadership to Drive Innovation’ event last week. The keynote was delivered by Dr Sam Roberts, Chief Executive of NICE.
During the session, Helen emphasised the need for UK patients to have access to the latest innovations, technology, and care to improve patient outcomes, insisting the UK must be more proactive in adopting novel innovations, enshrining a culture of continual improvement in the NHS which integrates into day-to-day operational decision-making.
Moreover, the NHS must also better understand the economics of research to ensure short-term cost does not prevent improved value and patient outcomes in the longer-term.
