On Tuesday, Doris-Ann had the opportunity to meet with Dean Whiting, the CEO of Pathology Technology Australia (PTA). They face many similar issues to those BIVDA have, although for different reasons due to the differences in the health care systems.
But certainly getting policy makers and politicians to understand that there isn’t healthcare without diagnostics supporting decision making is a shared challenge.
PTA are working on a health economics report to identify the savings that could have been made by correct use of tests for early diagnosis in heart failure and to identify pre-eclampsia.
BIVDA is looking to do a similar report on missed opportunities so there was agreement to do a regular monthly check in to share information and progress between the two Associations.
