DHSC: Product Information Management system (PIM) – opportunity for members

By February 3, 2026No Comments

DHSC has invited BIVDA members to be future Data Providers to the PIM service and to participate in testing the early prototype of it. DHSC would value members’ expert opinion on PIM which will be a trusted, central platform for medical device product information, enabling users across the NHS to easily access accurate, high-quality data to support safe, informed care and providers to service this requirement to mutual benefit.

Background on PIM

PIM will provide objective medical device information that is accurate across the UK to users across the NHS (subjective information that varies by context, such as pricing and distribution, will be out of scope for PIM). By bringing together objective data from multiple sources and allowing direct input, PIM will serve as an overarching MedTech library, enabling to access information through a user-friendly interface, downloads, or system integration. Users will be able to flag errors and request missing data, while suppliers can respond and contribute updates, reducing the need to repeatedly provide the same information to different users across the NHS.

Your expertise will be vital in validating and challenging the ongoing design and development of PIM ensuring that it will be fit for purpose for yourself and many colleagues. Members are invited to a kick-off session launching our user testing for PIM on either Thursday the 12th of February at 14:00 (via Teams). Please email milyan.hills@ve3.global.com and the link will be sent to you.

What’s the kick-off about?

  • Gain insight into the PIM project, its goals, and how you can shape the product.
  • Understand how user testing works and what’s expected of you.
  • Receive a demonstration of the PIM prototype for Data Providers and guidance on how to explore it in your own time and provide initial comments via a short survey.
  • Ask any questions that you have about PIM.

After the session, you’ll receive a self-service booking link to schedule a 30-minute feedback session on your interaction with the prototype at a time that suits you. This will be an opportunity to capture your fuller insights and how you see PIM relieving pains and creating gains.

What will the feedback session involve?

  • An informal opportunity to share your impressions after exploring the PIM demonstrator.
  • Discussing what worked well and what could be improved in terms of data presented, etc.
  • Providing input on usability, navigation and your overall experience.
  • Suggesting any changes that would make PIM more useful for you.

Kick-Off Details

Please note that DHSC require your IP address in advance of testing the PIM Prototype so that they can ‘whitelist’ your IP so that you may securely access the prototype. DHSC can answer any questions about this at the kick-off.

Your insights will be of great value in helping create a solution that truly meets user needs. If you are interesting in engaging with PIM and testing the early prototype, or have any questions about this process, please reach out to milyan.hills@ve3.global
