DBT seeks BIVDA member feedback on Rules of Origin

By January 14, 2025No Comments

DBT colleagues are keen to have discussions with life sciences companies this month to better understand how current Rules of Origin (RoO) within certain UK trade agreements work. This engagement is separate from, though complementary to, other discussions you may be involved with related to the Department’s industrial and trade strategies.

In particular, they’d like to discuss:

  •  your sector’s current supply chains and how these have changed recently or may change in the future;
  • your sector’s ability to meet Product Specific Rules when trading and experience using different rulesets – for instance TCA vs PEM rules;
  • the extent to which your sector uses the UK’s current cumulation arrangements in our FTAs (where businesses can treat intermediate products from another FTA party as if they were their own when determining the origin of the final product).
  • your sector’s experience with different origin procedures (the administrative arrangements and documentary requirements used to claim preferential tariffs).

If you’d like to discuss further then please do contact Rupert Callingham Rupert.Callingham@businessandtrade.gov.uk.
