
BIVDA member CPI has published five reports offering deep insights into the challenges facing MedTech companies and the opportunities to overcome them.
CPI are inviting MedTech companies, industry partners, and investors to work with them to amplify these findings and collaborate on solutions that will strengthen the UK’s innovation ecosystem.
1. Pre-competitive gaps in UK MedTech
This report identifies major opportunities across wound care, near-patient testing, and surgical robotics by analysing unmet clinical needs and shared challenges across industry and healthcare. It highlights where pre-competitive collaboration can accelerate innovation, adoption, and patient outcomes.
2. Breaking through barriers in next-generation cancer diagnostics
This report outlines a new UK-led mechanism — the Next-generation Cancer Diagnostics Programme (NG-Dx) designed to accelerate multi-omics diagnostics through public-private partnership. 4. Turning Innovation into Impact: Removing Barriers for MedTech Spinouts
Drawing on insights from ten leading University Technology Transfer Offices, this report examines the systemic barriers facing university spinouts and offers practical routes to help them scale and deliver patient impact.
5. Challenges and opportunities for the UK MedTech SME ecosystem 2025
Reflecting the experiences of SMEs, this report identifies where targeted support and partnership can accelerate growth and global competitiveness. It recommends launching an NHS Priority & Clinical Register, which would publish NHS unmet needs and procurement intentions.
