
Cancer Research UK have released an ‘Early Detection and Diagnosis of Cancer Roadmap’.
Endorsed by Professor Chris Whitty, and formed in consultation with BIVDA, the roadmap aims to establish a path towards a future where early detection and diagnosis of cancer is the norm.
By developing this roadmap alongside esteemed experts and organisations, it unites the fragmented landscape to provide a clear vision for overcoming current challenges and achieving the best standards.
In summary, the Roadmap sets out five policy recommendations:
1. Make early detection and diagnosis a central tenet of the UK research and development roadmap
2. Address the market failure in early detection and diagnosis
3. Invest in health service capacity for early detection and diagnosis delivery and research
4. Accelerate quality, ethical collection and access to patient data for early detection and diagnosis
5. Explore a new model of health-check centres for asymptomatic public
