BIVDA Spotlight: New England Biolabs

By March 30, 2026No Comments

In this edition’s BIVDA spotlight, we will be highlighting longstanding BIVDA member New England Biolabs.

New England Biolabs® (NEB®) was founded in 1974 as a collective of scientists committed to developing innovative products for the life sciences industry. Today NEB® offers a very wide selection of products for PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, RT-PCR, LAMP, RPA and Next Generation Sequencing. NEB® supports scientists developing molecular diagnostics worldwide.

Our products at manufactured in facilities accredited ISO13485:2016 and a range of products are available manufactured as GMP-grade. Extensive molecular biology and enzymology experience enable us to help customers solve the challenges inherent in technology development and ultimately in scale-up and commercialization. We can supply our products on an OEM basis from small to global scale.

NEB® supports total flexibility in the format and formulation of our products. From our vast over-the-counter range of products in multiple pack sizes available next day on our website www.neb.com to our customised solutions offerings of tailored dispensing and labelling, high concentration, glycerol-free and lyophilised formats. For customers looking for a complete solution, NEB® can also provide kitting services.

A new state-of-the-art 30,000 sq ft lyophilisation facility was opened at Milton Park, Abingdon, UK in 2024. Lyophilisation or freeze-drying, enables room-temperature storage and transport of temperature-sensitive reagents and assays. Beyond improving shelf life and stability, lyophilised products offer enhanced usability in point-of-care, point-of-use and field-based settings.

We support customers looking for off-the-shelf lyophilised products (such as our LyoPrime Luna® Probe One-Step RT-qPCR Mix with UDG and LyoPrime WarmStart™ Fluorescent LAMP/RT-LAMP Mix with UDG) as well as reagents optimized for lyophilisation and lyophilisation of customer developed formulations.

NEB has over 50 years of experience in enzyme formulation and extensive expertise in lyophilisation; we offer flexible, science-driven lyophilisation solutions tailored to your specific goals. Our team has developed and optimized lyophilised reagents across a wide range of applications, ensuring consistent performance, stability, and ease of use.

By combining formulation know-how with lyophilisation expertise, NEB offers streamlined, end-to-end solutions from development to delivery backed by quality and reliability.
