BIVDA have submitted our response to NHSE and NICE’s recent consultation on their proposals for an integrated, rules-based medtech pathway.
We broadly welcome the pathway’s potential to assist with the adoption of innovation in the NHS. However, we have come concerns regarding delivery.
There is also wariness among industry that NHSE will place unrealistic demands on developers. Successful, realistic delivery requires close collaboration between industry, health professionals, and patient groups.
We have asked for greater clarity in the innovation pathway across assessment, funding and procurement and clear demand signalling.
Other feedback included a request for a definition of cost analysis to go beyond implementation and a better understanding of non-economic health factors.
