At last week’s Prix Galien awards, new BIVDA member Viscera Technologies’ flagship innovation, Quantico, was declared runner-up in the Best Digital Health category.
Quantico is the first lateral flow testing platform built around the smartphone. Capable of quantifying biomarkers using only a test strip, a sample and Lab-Flow technology — complemented by a proprietary app that automatically corrects for ambient lighting and smartphone-to-smartphone camera variations.
Quantico achieves quantitation through:
- Employing Viscera’s patented Lab-Flow LFT technology, Quantico achieves laboratory-grade precision on every strip.
- Driven by its proprietary reader algorithms, which transform any smartphone camera into a high-performance assay reader by compensating in real time for ambient light and optical differences across devices.
The judges were impressed with its affordability, simplicity, reliability, as well as its ability to bring the power of a laboratory directly to the user or patient in any care or geographical setting.
Following the award, Viscera is now seeking licensing partners for specific biomarkers and/or geographical territories. Both the European and worldwide patent approval have had claims accepted for grant with no claims requiring amendment — highlighting the extent of Quantico’s innovation.
