Updates from the latest of our regular meetings with the MHRA’s senior leadership team.
With new chair Prof. Anthony Harnden in place, BIVDA met with him, Chief Executive June Raine, and other senior leaders from the MHRA.
In a wide-ranging discussion, we discussed the MHRA contribution to the UK’s life sciences vision and NHS Ten Year Plan and the recent consultation around international recognition. At the tactical level, Director of Innovation James Pound covered the lessons learned from the Innovative Devices Access Programme (IDAP) and Director of Partnerships Harriet Teare spoke about the establishment of the Centres of Excellence for Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSIs).
BIVDA set out the continuing regulatory challenges faced by UK businesses, and reiterated the need for stable and proportionate legislation.
Further details will be provided in our next regulatory affairs Working Group, being held online on the 13th March.
