Last week, Ben Kemp, BIVDA’s Policy and Public Affairs Officer, met with Lord Hacking at the House of Lords, following his attendance at our Community Diagnostics Parliamentary Drop-In in April. During that event, Lord Hacking expressed a strong interest in advancing the recommendations outlined in our policy declaration to the Minister.
The meeting aimed to provide Lord Hacking with further background information and determine the most effective parliamentary question to pose. We are pleased to confirm that he was successful in the ballot, and a short debate has now been scheduled for 5th June. As per the order paper, his question will pertain to ‘Supporting primary and community care settings to integrate in vitro point of care diagnostics’.
In line with Lords protocol, the debate will last ten minutes, during which the Minister must respond. We are actively engaging with additional peers to encourage further contributions to the debate and are supporting Lord Hacking with relevant materials to inform his follow-up question.
We will make sure to update members on the content of the debate once it has occurred.
