Last Wednesday, BIVDA welcomed members, stakeholders and partners to our 2025 AGM held at One Great George Street, Westminster.
The event began with the annual report on BIVDA’s progress from Chief Executive, Helen Dent, compared against BIVDA’s three-year strategy unveiled the previous year. The meeting also marked Helen’s first year in her role.
Amongst the business of the day was an update from our new ambassador, former Health Minister Maggie Throup OBE, on how to work effectively with Government.
IPSOS Mori provided an overview on the BIVDA stakeholder recognition project undertaken in 2023. They noted that BIVDA is a highly trusted organisation from the Government’s standpoint, with a growing reach and recognition at the highest levels.
We also heard from Katie Moss, Diagnostics Programme Director for Greater Manchester Diagnostics Network, who is leading a programme to deliver community ARI hubs in the area, and Nathaniel Mills, Chief Operating Officer for NIHR HRC Network, who spoke about the centres’ ongoing work following their establishment.
Updates from BIVDA Working Party Chairs gave strong insight into the productivity of each group over the year alongside the topics which are expected to dominate meetings in the coming months.
Following on from these talks and statutory business, we welcomed our newly elected board members: John Rippeth (Early Health), Amandeep Chohan (Hologic, Inc.), Ross Stevenson (Thermo Fisher Scientific), Alastair Manning (QuidelOrtho), Paul Skingley (bioMérieux), and Darren Stenlake (Sysmex Europe).
We would like to extend our thanks to the outgoing board members for their diligent support of BIVDA over their three-year term. Thank you, too, to all who attended the meeting – we look forward to seeing you next year!
