The King’s Fund have released their new life sciences explainer, which was developed with support from BIVDA and ABPI.
BIVDA Chief Executive Helen Dent was at The King’s Fund on Tuesday for the launch of the resource. The explainer provides a comprehensive examination of the UK’s life sciences sector, answering questions such as: what does ‘life sciences’ mean, who is involved, and what are the future challenges and opportunities?
It is expected to benefit a wide range of audiences from industry professionals to politicians and patients, helping to demystify some of the language around our sector to provide uniformity of meaning.
At the same event, Helen joined a panel discussion alongside NICE Chief Executive Sam Roberts and ABPI Chief Executive Richard Torbett. The panel explored whether the health and care system is ready to seize the opportunities presented by the 10-Year Plan, Life Sciences Sector Plan, and Industrial Strategy.
She noted that IVDs have been recognised as key to delivering the transformation, facilitating earlier diagnoses and driving the prevention agenda.
