Life Arc and Asthma + Lung UK, along with input from BIVDA’s Professor Mike Messenger, have developed a Target Product Profile (TPP) to help diagnostic developers create a simple test for use in primary care.
The TPP was also developed in collaboration with people with lived experience of chronic lung disease and healthcare professionals.
Feedback from patients included being stuck in a ‘primary care loop’ before achieving a diagnosis, with over 70% of them having had more than 3 diagnostic tests performed.
The need for a simple lung test is paramount as current diagnostic pathways often rely on specialist assessments or cumbersome procedures that are not always feasible in primary care settings. This leads to missed opportunities for early intervention.
You can find the TPP here.
