New diagnostic tool to provide faster diagnoses across the NHS

By May 13, 2025No Comments

Cancer 360, a new digital tool being rolled out across the NHS, is set to help millions of cancer patients receive faster diagnoses, reducing treatment delays and improving survival rates.

By integrating all patient data into a single, real-time dashboard, clinicians can prioritise care, track progress, and create personalised treatment plans. This eliminates the need to gather information from scattered sources like spreadsheets and emails.

Piloted successfully at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Royal United Hospital Bath, Cancer 360 is part of the Federated Data Platform (FDP), which securely unites data from across NHS systems. Since April 2024, hospitals using FDP have performed 70,000 more procedures and cut unnecessary hospital stays by nearly 19%, demonstrating the impact of smart data use.

This initiative is supported by a £1 billion investment in NHS digital transformation, and aligns with broader efforts to cut waiting lists and accelerate clinical trials. It reflects a major shift from analogue to digital processes — one of the central themes of the upcoming NHS 10-year plan — and is designed to deliver quicker, more co-ordinated cancer care.
