MedTech Europe has warned tariffs on transatlantic trade risk disrupting critical supply chains, affecting patient care and healthcare resilience.
The trade group made the warning in response to the publication of a joint statement on trade and tariffs by the U.S. and European Union.
MedTech Europe said the statement lacks tariff relief for medical technologies and their essential inputs. The trade group wants both sides to eliminate tariffs for medical technologies to protect patients.

Tens of thousands of patients across England can now access vital diagnostic tests and scans out of hours and in their community, with 100 community diagnostic centres (CDCs) opening in the evenings and on weekends.
With the government already delivering 7.2 million CDC tests and scans since July 2024, patients no longer have to choose between their job and vital health appointments as more centres open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Latest NHS England data shows that the NHS delivered over 1.6 million more tests and scans from July 2024 to June 2025 compared to the same time the previous year.

The model has been introduced at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

More than 100,000 people in England have now been tested for hepatitis C through the NHS’s confidential home testing service, in a major milestone towards eliminating the virus as a public health threat.
England is one of the few countries in the world on track to eliminate hepatitis C well before the World Health Organization’s 2030 target, thanks to concerted action by the NHS, public health teams and charities.
Latest data shows that 105,998 people have ordered an at-home NHS hepatitis C test, since the portal launched in May 2023.
