Join MedTech Europe’s SME Task Force

By July 16, 2025No Comments

MedTech Europe (MTE) has launched an initiative to support SMEs in medical technologies sector at a European level, and would like to invite BIVDA members to join free of charge (even if you are not a member of MedTech Europe).

Why has MedTech Europe launched an initiative for SMEs?

To ensure that the needs of SMEs are served well at a European level, MTE has launched an initiative specifically dedicated to SMEs. With this initiative, they aim to integrate the SME perspective into overall MedTech Europe strategy and advocacy on various topics (e.g. regulatory, trade, reducing bureaucracy etc.). To do so effectively, it is of utmost importance to involve the SMEs directly in shaping their priorities at a European level.

Since MedTech Europe has very few SMEs in its direct membership, they are reaching out to the SMEs directly to kindly invite you to join this initiative. Irrespective if you are a direct member of MedTech Europe or not – you are welcome and encouraged to join MedTech Europe SME initiative free of charge.

How does this initiative work?

MTE have established a dedicated SME Task Force in MedTech Europe which consists of IVD and medical device SMEs. This Task Force will be setting SME priorities in various areas (such as IVD Regulation 2017/746/EU (IVDR) and Medical Devices Regulation 2017/745/EU (MDR), European attractiveness, market access and research & development). The priorities set by this Task Force will be further used in MedTech Europe advocacy for SMEs at a European level.

What will be expected from your side?

You will be expected to join the online and in-person Task Force meetings and actively contribute to shaping SME priorities at a European level. MTE will host an in-person workshop organised to set these priorities in Autumn, as well as ad hoc online calls when needed.

In addition, there will be opportunities to share your experience directly with the regulators, decision makers and other stakeholders in various meetings organised with the by MedTech Europe.

What are the rules for joining this initiative?

MedTech Europe is inviting the SMEs to join this initiative free of charge, even if you are not a direct member of ours. However, you will be expected to dedicate your time, knowledge, and experience in shaping SME priorities at a European level.

The more SMEs on board – the better MTE can represent their priorities at the European level. Therefore, do not miss the opportunity to shape Europe’s SME priorities for medical technology sector at a EU level (it is free of charge and will only cost you time).
