Ex-NHSE boss Amanda Pritchard delivers verdict on body’s dissolution: ‘the time is right’

In her final pubic appearance as Chief Executive of NHS England, Amanda Pritchard stated that the ‘time is right’ to abolish the body.

At a King’s Fund event, she stated that it made sense for the Government to take more control over NHS operations given the seismic changes expected from the upcoming NHS 10-year plan.

She expressed her concern about the looming job losses among her ex-staff, urging senior health leaders to provide clarity as soon as possible.

Ms Pritchard agreed with the Government’s assessment that the NHS requires radical reform and outlined her belief that the Government are right to do all they can to maximise the use of taxpayer’s money for the benefit of NHS services.

Ms Pritchard will become leader of Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals later this year. This follows the announcement that the Deputy Chief Executive, Lawrence Tallon, will join the MHRA as their new Chief Executive.
