Dear members, please see below update on EU progress with the proposed restriction of PFAS substances.
Dear members,
We are reaching out to follow up on the email below and provide an update regarding the ECHA webinar on the PFAS SEAC draft opinion consultation, which took place today.
The webinar presented information on how to prepare for, and what to expect during, the PFAS SEAC 60-day consultation, expected for March/April 2026. The information shared is comprehensively reflected in the presentation available on the ECHA webinar page at the link here.
We would like to draw your attention in particular to the next steps in preparation for next year’s consultation. ECHA will provide two types of guidance materials for stakeholders:
- Survey guidance document – This will include the survey questions and instructions for responding. It will be available around mid-December, following the SEAC plenary session.
- Use mapping, which will be released in three stages:
- Available after the webinar: A list of uses evaluated by SEAC. The list has no been published yet; but it has been announced to be released after the webinar.
- After the December SEAC Plenary: Additional descriptions of the uses evaluated by SEAC will be published.
- Before the consultation: A further refined description of the evaluated uses will be released.
Lastly, following the webinar, ECHA will publish a Q&A document summarising key questions raised before and after the session; however, the document is not yet available. We will continue progressing the file and will keep members informed of the next steps and any subsequent developments, including the links to the announced documents.
If you have any questions or comment, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
